Big Rideau Lake
Event #4 of the Bass Anglers Association was on my home lake of the Big Rideau. We launched out of Safari Marina in Rideau Ferry. The day was nice and sunny with little wind. I was hoping for a good tournament. There is nothing more that I would like than to win a tournament on my home lake.
I started fishing a deep weed line with a tiki stick texas rigged with a 1/8-finesse worm weight. With the wind it would allow the bait to sink a little faster without the wind blowing a nice bow in the line while the bait is sinking. I went about 30 feet along the weed line and I get a hit. I get the bass to the boat and I should have just flipped it into the boat but instead I reached for the net. You can imagine what happened next…. that’s right, the bass spits out the hook. This happened another time but this time I lose the bass as I’m flipping it into the boat.
The day was rather hard for me for some reason. It took me most of the day to catch my 4 keeper bass. I had fished waters that I hadn’t fished in some 5 years, in search for a good bag of bass. The Big Rideau won again. It turned out that I brought in 4 fish weighing just over 7 lbs. I will be fishing this body water in another tournament in a couple of weeks. I am looking forward to my revenge.
