Clayton NY, St. Lawrence River
Hi Everyone!!!
Well, I fished my last event in the ESPN Bassmaster Weekend Series for 2005 this past weekend on the St. Lawrence. My goal was to just catch a limit. I really wasn't concerned about size as I was already mathematically eliminated from the regionals at the end of October. I had spots picked out. My primary spot which I figured that I would be able to catch my limit on (but I knew that I would have to be patient and work the area over well). Unfortunately, didn't work out to my benefit on Sunday. Not by any wrong doings on my part, at least none that I am aware of. We were asked ( in a not so polite manner) to leave this marina. When the owner asked why I was fishing in there, I pulled a 11" largemouth out from under a dock. I held up the bass and said for these but just a little bigger. For some reason she didn't have a sense of humour about that and told me once again to leave the area.
I don't believe that I had to leave because technically there were no signs stating that it was private property, nor were there any signs saying no fishing. However, I left without any further confrontation. The day was rather long after that because I was not able to catch a keeper sized bass after leaving there. However, if it were a pike tournament I might have had a chance. All in all it was a disappointing season for me as far as results go however, the knowledge and experience that I have obtained from doing this series is incredible.
I want to thank everyone that supported me this season but mostly I want to thank my wife Kim and my daughter Jessica. With out their support none of this would have been possible. I also want to thank a good friend of mine..Grumpy (Tony Gascon). You made those long days away from home more enjoyable and I enjoyed your company in the boat. I am looking forward to next season, where I assure you the results will be different.
Yours in fishing,
Pete
