10th Annual Peter Larmand Outdoors Kids Charity Fishing Tournament Breaks Records

Well, another event is in the books and it was another record breaking year. For our 10th year we gave away a Jackson “Skipper” Kayak with Bending Branches paddle, a trip for 2 for 4 days to Horwood Outpost all in celebration of our 10th year. Thank you to Roberto Briones and James McBeath from Jackson Kayaks and to the folks from Benching Branches and the Paddle Shack. Also thank to Richard from Horwood Outpost for their 4 day get away for an adult and child.
The 2 lucky winners are:
Jackson Kayak winner: Jamie Schur from Smiths Falls
Horwood Outpost winner: Betty Fowlie from Smiths Falls
Congratualtions to you both.

The weather held off for most of the day however, the kids and parents did get a little wet. Although it didn’t last long the kids were troopers as they continued to catch and release fish. 85 young anglers registered to fish the tournament (most ever). There were some new faces and lots or returning anglers from previous years and that is always great to see. We had young anglers from all over, places like Ottawa, Arnprior, Kemptville, Smiths Falls, Carleton Place, Perth, Kanata and a family from Napanee. It’s nice to see youngsters from all over enjoying and sharing the same passion as I have for fishing and the outdoors. The event is introducing young anglers to fishing and showing them out great things can happen in the outdoors. We help make memories happen.

This year a couple of records for the event were broken:
The records broken:
Number of young anglers: 85 from 71
The number of fish caught and released: 1557 from a previous 1233. All of which swam away to bite another day.

Congratulations to all of participates and all of our winners. A great job was done by all the anglers.
This year the event supporting Big Brothers Big Sisters of Lanark County and we are happy to be supporting a great local charity. Sherry Burke, from Big Brothers Big Sisters of Lanark County was in attendance with her young angler as well as they had a table displaying information on what they do for the local community. Peter Larmand Outdoors is pleased to announce that we raised $600 for this great organization.
The day went off without a hitch and that is because of the people that have work countless hours helping put this event together and without their help it would make a lot more work for me. So special thanks goes out to our organizers and volunteers:

Also need to thank Sean White from LimitFish Media for being onsite for the entire event capturing photos and videos of the entire day. Everything from what happens behind the scenes to all the fish catching action. Sean is a huge part of our social media presence not only for that day but ever since Limit Fish Media came on board. Poster design, promoting on social media before, during and after the event.
Also this year we had Yvonne Brown from Fishing 101 for Women and Ontario Female Anglers present with Melanie to help out and to show women that want to get into fishing and are not sure how to go about it.
Also want to send out a thank you for John McLaughlin from Rideau Ferry Harbour Marina. This year marked the 9th year that John has allowed us to use his marina for our event. Thank you John.

I ask that if you are in the market for any of the products or services any of these sponsors provide that you give them priority to earn your business.
If you were at the event and you had a good time, please pass it on to all of your friends. Until next year, tight lines and remember to keep only what you will eat and release the rest for another day. Work hard but fish harder. Lord willing we will see you all next year.
