Muskrat Lake July 15, 2006

Event #2 on the Lake & Trail Renegade Bass Tour stopped in Cobden on Muskrat Lake. This was only the second time that my partner and I have been on this body of water. The first time was to pre fish which wasn’t a very good one. We were lucky to be out on the water because I have been having problems with my trolling motor batteries. It turned out it was my onboard charger. Thanks to Debbie and Pete at George’s Marine and Sport they were able to get me fixed up and on the water for this tournament.

The weather was supposed to be sunny, hot and humid. The morning started out overcast with about a 3 minute sprinkle. Then the sun came out and it was hot. We started out the day looking for small mouth. After the first hour with nothing we decided to switch to largemouth.

We started fishing the mouth of Snake River. We wee able to catch 3 fish by casting to the open pockets within the lily pads. As the morning went on we decided to switch back to smallies which turned out to be a good decision. We were able to catch 2 more decent smallmouth to complete out 5 fish limit. We were never able to cull are last 1.8 pound large mouth. We ended up with 12.90 lbs. Good enough for 34 th place. Now we sit in 46 th place for the TOY standings and only 3 pounds out of the cut off for the Classic.

The next event is on July 29 th on Cranberry/Dog Lake. The launch will be out of Seeley’s Bay. If you are out and about, stop in and see some 75 bass boats, the Shimano Live Release Boat.

See you on the water.
