Lake St. Francis, August 11/07

Stop number 4 is Lake St. Francis launching out of Cornwall. Never been on that part of the St. Lawrence River and was looking forward to it. Unfortunately work got in the way and I was never able to get out to pre fish for this event. After the Ottawa River results, we knew that we had our work cut out for us if we wanted to qualify for the Classic. However, not having a chance to pre fish was going to be a major problem. So, I spent may hours looking over maps of the area and trying to determine where we were going to start the day.

With a clear sunny day with some light wind we decided to head over to Lancaster area to see if we couldn't find some largemouth. The area looked good on the map. So off we go heading down the river to Lancaster. We pull into the area that we wanted to fish which was a weedline in 8-12 foot of water. Not getting anything and not even seeing any bait fish, we decided to move in a little and try a series of docks and boat houses.

It turned out to be a good choice for us because we were pulling bass off every dock that we came to. However, the docks had to have specific qualities and it was those docks that we were able to pull off some good bass. Our largest was just over 3 lbs. Nothing big for this area or body of water but having never been on this body of water we were happy with what we came out with. Our last fish was just under 3 lbs giving us a 5 fish limit of just over 12 lbs. We needed another 30 minutes and we would have been able to increase that weight because we had narrowed down what we were looking for as far as docks were concerned.

Knowing that we were out of contention from qualifying for the Classic, we were going to swing for the fences on the last stop of the season. My home lake, Big Rideau Lake in 2 weeks.
