Mississippi Lake, July 7/07

After a couple of days of good pre fishing it was tournament day. I just picked up my new Nitro Z-9 and it was the first time that I would have had a chance to use it. The weather had changed from the days that we prefished. Although we were still hoping that things would work out in our favour. We had a pretty good prefish where we located some fish in shallow water with the bigger ones coming off of some heavy cover.

Although the morning of the even the weather wasn’t the same as what we prefished in. The temperature had dropped a few degrees with overcast conditions and the call for some rain. Being boat number 12 we know that we would be one of the first people in our spot. Our number gets called and off we go, to our first spot. We knew that it was going to be a long hard day because after working over our area for about 2 hours. We came up with nothing. We made changes and we were only able to catch 4 fish for a depressing weight of just over 6lbs. We finished dead last. This was not a way that we wanted to start off the season. Although it was only the first event of the season, we knew that we had our work cut out for us with the remainder of the tournaments.

The next stop was a 2 one day events July 21 st and 22 nd on the Ottawa River out of Rockland.
