12th Annual Peter Larmand Outdoors Fishing Tournament a HUGE Success<\/strong><\/p>\n

May 12th marked the 12 year for this annual event that has young anglers ranging in age from 2 to 19 years of age. The event has grown in leaps and bounds since moving to Smiths Falls. The location is perfect and of course the weather this year was finally on our side. A record 91 young anglers from 2 provinces participated. We had young anglers come all the way from Buckingham and Gatineau QC participating. According to the parents \u201cthey had such a good time that they will be returning next year with even more kids\u201d.<\/p>\n

The event this year had some special additions which has turned this from a fishing tournament to more of a family event. We had face painting courtesy of Nicola Thompson from NikNaks Paddle Shack. She provided her artistic talents and most of the 91 anglers were walking around with their faces painted,
\nWe also had the culinary talents of Katrina Carretero from BK Waffles making available her delicious waffles to everyone.<\/p>\n

We were also fortunate to have award winning Hip Hop\/rap recording artist and youth global ambassador, Leondro onsite to meet the kids and sign autographs. Make sure you check out his latest hit \u201cAll You\u201d ft. Sean Kingston.<\/p>\n

Other added feature we had this year was courtesy of avid flyer fisherman and good friend Jeremy Parker. Jeremy had setup a table with a few vises so that kids could tie their own flies.<\/p>\n

For the first time we were able to make the fishing experience available for everyone even if you don\u2019t have fishing equipment. Thanks to a program by the Ontario Federation of Angler\u2019s and Hunters (OFAH) called Tackle Share. This program allows the young anglers to sign out a rod and reel and life jacket for free for the day.<\/p>\n

We feel that with all of the above mentioned activities; it has taken our tournament into more of a family event. An event like this takes a lot of planning and support which would not be possible without the help of some many people. I want to thank my family for supporting me throughout all of this and through everything that I do. The vast amount of volunteers and friends that come out on this day to make sure that everything runs smoothly.<\/p>\n
